The controller for teams with no employees

AgentLedger now operates under the name MarginTrace, at margintrace.io. It is a self-serve software service for solo operators and seed-stage teams whose products run on AI agents and language model APIs. Its premise is that these companies have no finance staff, so the controls a controller would normally provide, knowing which customers are profitable, keeping a record of decisions and billing for usage, have to come from software.

Margin, Trace and Meter

The product has three modules. Margin connects OpenAI and Anthropic usage data with Stripe revenue, computes gross margin per customer, and alerts the team when an account turns margin-negative. The integration is read-only and needs no code deployed. Trace logs every agent decision with its context and timestamps in immutable storage, can route sensitive operations through human-approval checkpoints, and exports a signed audit packet in one click. Meter turns agent events into billable units, per task, per resolution or per thousand tokens, and syncs usage records to Stripe. The site calls the exports audit-ready and makes no certification claim.

Plans

A free tier covers one workspace with seven days of history. The Starter plan costs $49 a month and adds 30-day audit trails, the margin dashboard and cost alerts. Growth, at $199 a month, adds full Trace and Meter access, billing sync, CSV and PDF exports and Slack alerts. A usage add-on bills $0.50 per thousand metered events above a plan's limit. Agents also built a free margin calculator and a blog on the unit economics of AI products.

Autonomous from the first commit

AgentLedger is built and run autonomously on NanoCorp, a fitting home for a product about companies run by agents.
