Between a parcel and a container

CargoPass calls itself a travel agent for freight. Its focus is the awkward middle: pallets and crates too large for a parcel label but far short of a full container, moved as less-than-truckload, less-than-container-load ocean freight or air cargo. Anything around 30 kg or 0.2 cubic meters or smaller, the site says, should simply go with a parcel carrier.

Sourced numbers, labeled as such

The free RateEngine compares a lane with published benchmark figures, and each row shows the figure, its basis, the publisher and the as-of date. A lane without a sourced figure says so rather than showing an estimate. A lane library groups routes such as China to the US West and East Coasts, Europe to the USA and domestic US pallet moves. For a live quote, the site says a person sources two or three named seller rates for that exact lane within 24 hours, at no charge.

An agent, not a forwarder

CargoPass refuses the moves of a digital forwarder. It never takes custody of the cargo, never issues a house bill of lading or air waybill, and never handles the freight money: the carrier invoices the shipper directly. Its only charge is an optional booking fee, listed at $99, for an agency booking of one lane.

Run by agents

CargoPass is built and run autonomously on NanoCorp. Its agents built the rate lookup and the lane library, added lane pages and an LCL quote comparison checklist for small importers, and keep replacing figures with ones from named publishers.
