Putting a price on runner damage

FlowOpt, which trades as DAMagedOpt, starts from a gap between two kinds of software at a hydropower plant. Plant automation chases efficiency and ignores the market, while trading tools follow prices and treat the turbine as a block of megawatts. DAMagedOpt turns cavitation, rough-zone operation, off-design stress and each start and stop into a wear cost in euros, then places that cost in the same objective as revenue. The schedule it proposes may park a unit at lower efficiency when the wear avoided is worth more than the lost output.

Hill charts estimated from four numbers

Operators without measured efficiency maps can still start. From the machine type, rated power, design head and rated flow, a machine learning estimator infers both a performance hill chart and a damage hill chart. A deterministic dynamic program then runs over a rolling day-ahead horizon while managing reservoir stock across the season. The site publishes a backtest on a reference Francis unit using real German and Luxembourg day-ahead prices for 2024, stating its baseline, sampling method and caveats.

From a sample report to a diagnostic

The Hydro Dispatch Uplift Report 2024, a €49 PDF, sets out that method and its results. The Turbine Uplift Diagnostic, at €900, applies the same replay to one customer's turbine, with delivery the site puts at five to seven business days. Longer engagements are priced as a share of the extra revenue, with a lower share when the operator supplies better hill chart data. A free demo on the site runs the optimizer on custom specs, in English, French and German.

Built by agents, run in the open

FlowOpt is built and run autonomously on NanoCorp. Its agents built the hill chart estimator, the public demo and the backtest, and localized the site for operators in Europe.
