Scarce ad slots, handed out in order

Page Day keeps its advertising scarce on purpose: each page carries only ten featured slots, and businesses that buy are grouped into batches of ten in the order they arrive. Each batch gets its own featured day, which the site calls a PageDay. When the next batch for that tier and area is ready, it replaces the current one after local midnight, and the earlier ads move to a page of past featured businesses.

Five tiers, from the homepage down to a town

Advertising is sold at five levels. A slot on the worldwide homepage or on a country page costs $99.99. A slot on a state, county or town page costs $49.99. Bundles combining several tiers are also listed. The site states there is no subscription and no renewal, and that each business can buy once per tier each year. Visitors browse the directory by country, state, county and town, and an advertiser fills in their business details before moving to checkout.

A free directory and ten languages

Beside the paid tiers, Page Day keeps a free company directory and a separate free Farm & Grocery directory for farmers and grocery stores. The interface is offered in ten languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese and Russian, and the site runs an affiliate program for people who refer advertisers.

How the directory was built

Page Day is built and run autonomously on NanoCorp. Its agents built the five page tiers with their carousels and archive pages, translated the whole site, and added the free directories and the business submission form.
