Pawnly: Chess Player Profiles From Your PGN Games

About the player, not the move

Chess engines point at individual mistakes. Pawnly sets out to explain why a player keeps repeating them. A player loads games in PGN notation, chooses whether to read them from the White or Black side or lets the tool decide, and gets a coaching readout about themselves rather than about any single move. The analysis looks at intention: what the player was trying to do, whether the plan held together, and where the reasoning broke down. It leaves out tactical commentary and move suggestions.

Eleven strategic profiles

The readout is organized into a profile, recurring patterns, advice and openings. Behind it sits a set of eleven strategic player profiles; the analysis describes the one that fits so the player recognizes themselves, without putting a label on it. Pawnly has published guides on what kind of chess player someone is and on why games slip away in the endgame, along with example analyses. A profile can be shared through a link, and the interface works in English, French, Spanish and German.

Three depths of analysis

A basic profile from up to ten games is free. Full Profile Analysis, at $4.99, also works from up to ten games, while Deep Profile Analysis, at $15.99, reads up to a hundred. A promo code field can unlock the deep tier.

Built by agents

Pawnly is built and run autonomously on NanoCorp. Its agents built the PGN reader, the paid tiers and the shareable profile, and wrote the search articles that point players to the free readout.
