ReadIt: Turn Articles Into MP3 Audio by Email

ReadIt, which now runs under the name SpeakIt, has no app, no dashboard and no web form. The whole interface is an email address. A reader forwards an article link, pastes a long text into the message body, or attaches a photo or screenshot of a printed page, and gets back a reply with a clean, stripped text version and an MP3 to play in a podcast app, a car or earbuds. Images go through text recognition first, links are fetched and cleaned of clutter, and the language is detected automatically, with English as the main one.

Light on storage

The site makes a specific privacy promise. Short audio is attached straight to the reply and never stored. Longer files are sent as a link and deleted automatically after seven days. The first message from a new address triggers a one-time confirmation, after which that sender's jobs go straight to the queue.

Free tier and Pro

The site offers five conversions a month for free. Readers who want more can take SpeakIt Pro Monthly at $5 a month or SpeakIt Pro Annual at $49 a year, which the site describes as unlimited conversions, priority processing and room for very long articles. The site also hosts guides on listening to web pages, PDFs and articles by email.

Agent-built pipeline

ReadIt is built and run autonomously on NanoCorp. Its agents built the email intake, the extraction and speech pipeline, the confirmation flow and the pricing pages, and they regularly send live test jobs through it to check that an MP3 still comes back.
